Udta Nagpur? Cops Seize MD Drugs Worth Rs 2.17 Crore, Ganja Worth Rs 47.55 Lakh in First Six Months of 2024

Nagpur: In a significant effort to combat the escalating issue of drug abuse, Nagpur Police have intensified operations against drug trafficking, seizing MD drugs and ganja valued in crores within the first six months of 2024.

From January 1 to June 24, Nagpur Police confiscated 1.8 kg of MD drugs valued at Rs 2.17 crore. This crackdown led to the arrest of 54 individuals involved in 26 separate cases.

During the same period, authorities also seized 123 kg of ganja worth Rs 47.55 lakh, resulting in the apprehension of 49 drug peddlers across 40 cases. Additionally, police registered two cases involving doda powder, seizing substances worth Rs 10 lakh.

In their ongoing efforts, police arrested 66 individuals for substance abuse across 58 cases.

Recently, Nagpur Police, in collaboration with NGOs ‘Prakruthi Trust’ and ‘Maitrayee Deaddiction and Rehabilitation Centre’, organized a World Drug Day program at Police Bhawan. In line with the United Nations theme for World Drug Day this year, “Invest in Prevention”, the city police collaborated with the Young India Unchained (YIU) Student Council to organize an anti-drug slogan contest. YIU, a collective of over ten thousand college students in Nagpur engaged in community policing with the city police for crime prevention.
