The arrested accused have been identified as Sanjay Ramashray Yadav (48) from Prayagraj, UP; Atul Ravindra Tiwari (30) from Ambedkar Nagar, UP: Yash Arvindkumar Yadav (22), Rajesh Radheshyam Yadav (45), and Akhilesh Prakash Yadav (24) from Jaunpur, UP. The accused are history-sheeters of Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, Sachin Kumar Saroj, a resident of Alipur, Prayagraj, works at a company in Nagalwadi, Nagpur. He shares a rented accommodation in Waddhamna with Akhilesh Gautam who also is from his village. On January 16, Ajay Vishwakarma from Akhilesh’s village visited them with a young woman and claimed that they had come for a court marriage and would return after two days. The couple returned on January 19, and the situation took a dark turn on Sunday evening.

The accused arrived at Sachin’s residence in a car and began inquiring about Akhilesh. When Sachin informed them that Akhilesh was away at work, they insisted on being shown around his company. They then took Sachin in the car and found Akhilesh at the company. The accused forcibly bundled him into the car and began threatening Akhilesh. They asked for information about the girl and Ajay Vishwakarma. They allegedly told him that they would kill him if the girl was not found.

Panicked, Sachin immediately alerted the Wadi police. The police quickly swung into action. With the help of the Crime Branch and Nagpur Rural Police, Wadi police traced the accused’s movements and learned that they were heading toward Ramtek. A police blockade was set up at Deolapar, where the accused’s car was intercepted. Cops safely rescued Akhilesh and arrested the abductors.

Despite the gravity of the situation, it was found that the Wadi police had shown negligence in handling the case initially. The accused were presented before the court by the investigating officer, a Police-Sub Inspector. The PSI sought judicial custody instead of Police Custody. The court granted the request and the accused were subsequently remanded to jail.
