This is the US president’s first visit to Ukraine amid the horrific Russian invasion. “One year later, Kyiv stands. And Ukraine stands. Democracy stands,” Biden said in Kyiv.
Earlier, Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Biden on December 21 during a historic visit to Washington DC, Zelenskyy’s first trip abroad since February 2022, when Russia invaded the country.
“We are going to give Ukraine what it needs to succeed on the battlefield,” Biden had said during Zelenskyy’s December visit.
