Vehicle lifter nabbed in Gittikhadan, 4 bikes, a moped seized

Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, Gittikhadan police nabbed a vehicle lifter and recovered four bikes and a moped collectively worth Rs 1.60 lakh from him.

On Thursday around 9 pm, a team of Gittikhadan police was on patrol duty and searching for criminals in view of ongoing festivals. The cops received secret information that a vehicle lifter was on the prowl in Gittikhadan area. Acting swiftly, the police team reached the spot and rounded up the accused Sanket Shailesh Shende (22), resident of Hazaripahad, near Hanuman Temple. He was brought to police station and subjected to intense questioning.

The interrogation led the police to recover four motorcycles and a moped stolen by the accused. The seized vehicles include a Yamaha motorcycle, a Honda Passion, Hero Splendour, Bajaj Pulsar and Dio moped collectively worth Rs 1.60 lakh. On August 21, 2018, Mohan Krushnarao Kamdi (37), resident of Flat No. 203, Vayunandgaon Residency, Suyog Nagar, had lodged a complaint with Gittikhadan that his two-wheeler was stolen. The accused Sanket Shende had lifted the vehicles from Gittikhadan, Sadar, Yashodhara Nagar and Sitabuldi police jurisdictions.

The accused was booked under Section 379 of the IPC and placed under arrest. Further probe is underway.

The action was carried out by Senior PI V M Chaudhary, PSI Sajid Ahmed, ASI Rajesh Lohi, NPC Nilesh Ingole, sepoys Kunal Korche, Vaibhav Kulsunge, Anand Kendre under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushankumar Upadhyay, Joint CP Ravindra Kadam, DCP Zone 2 Chinmay Pandit and ACP Marathe.
