Vidarbha protagonists stage protest at CM’s residence

Nagpur: Observing Maharashtra Day as ‘black day,’ a group of activists on Monday staged protest near the residence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Dharampeth reiterating their demand of creation of a separate Vidarbha. Police took 7-8 activists in custody on the occasion.

The Vidarbha protagonists opposed the celebration of Maharashtra Day. The agitators raised slogans against BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Before the agitation could take a violent turn, a posse of cops acted swiftly and dispersed the protesters.

Meanwhile, the Founder of Vidarbha Rajya Aghadi Adv Shrihari Aney on Monday started a “Rakt Swakshari” (Blood Signature) campaign to push Vidarbha statehood demand forward. “Blood Signature campaign is being launched by Vidarbha protagonists to draw attention of Prime Minister Modi. The move is also aimed at reminding BJP of its promise to create a separate Vidarbha,” said an activist.
