The Mandir is near the Railway Station. Janmnadhar Poddar, who came to Nagpur from Rajasthan to establish Empress Mills, decided to construct this temple in 1919. Being a family temple of the Poddars, it was called Poddareshwar Ram Mandir. Completed in 1923, the temple was inaugurated on March 4.

Idols were specially carved in stone by Jaipur’s well-known sculptor Govindram Udairam. The architecture is octagonal and apart from Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman, the temple has idols of Lord Hanuman, Garuda, Sugriva, Ganga, Mahalaxmi, Laxmi-Narayan, and also a Shiva shrine.

A 25-day Maharudra Yagya was organized by the Temple Trust on the occasion of the Centenary Festival. Various programs like Abhishek, Havan, Sahastranam Pooja, Mangal Geet Singing will be held on 4th March on the foundation day of Shatabdi Mahotsav. On behalf of Shri Poddareshwar Ram Mandir Trust, an appeal is being made to all devout devotees to attend the program to be held on 1st and 4th March.

The temple organizes the Shobhayatra on Ram Navmi. Nagpurians, irrespective of religion and beliefs, participate in the Shobhayatra. Since Ram Navami is coming on March 30, after almost three years, Shri Ram Janmotsav Shobhayatra will be held in a grand manner like earlier.
