Atrocity offence is “politically motivated” move: Kukreja
Nagpur: “The violence occurred in Jaripatka was a strategically planned action. Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut pressurized Jaripatka Police to lodge ‘Politically Motivated’ Atrocity Offence against me. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray should immediately suspend Dr. Raut from Maharashtra Cabinet for his abuse of power,” contented Virendra Kukreja, Corporator while addressing a press conference here, on Monday.

MLC Pravin Datke, Pradesh Vice-President Sanjay Bhende, Ex-MLA Dr Milind Mane, Corporators Sanjay Chaudhary, Leena Somkuwar and others were prominently present during the press conference organized at Press Club, Civil Lines.
It is pertinent to mention that with elections of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) around the corner, BJP and Congress workers engaged in clashes in the Jaripatka area on Sunday. Offence was registered against both BJP and Congress workers in this regard at Jaripatka Police Station. A heavy police bandobast was deployed in North Nagpur to prevent further escalation.
Speaking during a press conference, Kukreja said that the group of women and men led by notorious Babu Khan, who has been accused of extortion and other serious offences, barged inside his office and ransacked it. When BJP workers including tried to intervene the accused attacked them too, he said.
Following which, the delegation of BJP approached Jaripatka Police Station; however, cops, influenced by Dr Raut, refused to hear our grievances, Kukreja said and mentioned that Dr Raut had misused his power of minister to pressurize Nagpur Police and compelled them to registered offence against me under Atrocity Act. Kukreja has also demanded CM Thackeray to suspend Raut from Maharashtra Cabinet.
Datke said if no action is taken against the accused, the BJP will start agitation against Nagpur Police in front of Jaripatka Police Station from Tuesday on the occasion of Mahashivratri. The agitation will then be conducted at Ward level, he said.
