Nagpur: In stark contrast to the fines imposed on ordinary citizens for traffic violations, local cops appear to be enjoying a safety blanket for similar offenses. Active citizens from the Second Capital of the State have shared concerning images with Nagpur Today, highlighting several instances of traffic norm violations by the police.
The shared images depict cops riding motorcycles without helmets, carrying more than two passengers (triple seat), parking in designated no-parking zones, and using fancy number plates, which are not compliant with traffic regulations.
These observations have sparked outrage among the public, who feel that the law should be equally enforced for everyone, including those responsible for upholding it. The citizens urge the authorities to take necessary actions to ensure that law enforcement personnel also adhere to traffic rules.
It is pertinent to mention that, in a bid to highlight the nuisance caused by constant vehicle horn honking, Nagpur Police, led by Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Singal, reached out to Nagpurians on the streets to promote the ‘No Honking in City’ campaign that started on Monday, May 20.
Now, it will be interesting to see what actions will follow after claims of cops flouting traffic norms on the street are being raised by Nagpur citizens.
