Nagpur: The Maratha community, a dominant force in Maharashtra politics, has been taking out silent marches in various towns in the state over the last one month. After holding more than 28 silent Morchas across Maharashtra, now the Maratha community is in the city to participate in the ‘grand finale’ Maratha Kranti Morcha on December 14, 2016 during the Winter Session of the State Legislative Assembly.
The city police have worked with clockwise precision in minimizing chaos that such a large gathering can create. The entire traffic of the city was well managed. Vehicles were redirected so that they could be kept away from the path of the rally.
All important senior police officials including Commissioner of Police Dr K Venketesham, Joint Commissioner Santosh Rastogi, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ranjan Sharma and In-Charge Police Inspectors were present at the Yeshwant Stadium, Panchsheel Talkies Square and other important squares to monitor the Morcha.
Police officials were also monitoring the rally with drones and cameras mounted on helmets.
