Nagpur: A man with a gun created a flutter at busy Jhansi Rani Square by threatening to kill himself.
Around 4 pm on Monday, the man named Sanjay lalsingh Patel (28), native of Ishwarkund, Seoni (MP), climbed atop the pedestal of Rani Jhansi statue and put a gun at his temple and threatened to kill himself. His antics and shrill screams drew attention of passersby at the busy square and soon a crowd of 100-200 people gathered.
Someone in the crowd alerted the Police Control Room about the tantrums of the man. Soon a team from Sitabuldi Police Station rushed to the spot. Few traffic cops were also reached the spot. As the lunatic was busy in his antics, a traffic policeman climbed atop the pedestal from behind and caught hold of the accused Sanjay Patel. The cops first snatched the gun from Sanjay and later subjected him to a sound beating.
The gun turned out to be an air gun which is used to fire pellets. A close look of the accused revealed that he was under the heavy influence of ganja and thus creating a scene.
Now, the ‘man with the gun’ is cooling his heels behind the bars.
