Nagpur: On the occasion of the 68th Dhammachakra Pravartan Day, millions of followers from across the country have converged at Diksha Bhoomi in Nagpur. Attendees began arriving two days prior to the event, and a series of programs commenced last night at the site. Devotees have been lining up since the night to pay their respects to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
It is noteworthy that on Vijayadashami in 1956, Babasaheb initiated a revolution at Diksha Bhoomi by renouncing Hinduism and embracing Buddhism, guiding over 500,000 followers to the teachings of the Buddha. On this day, Buddhist devotees and those who adhere to Ambedkarite ideology come from all corners of the nation to pay homage to his relics.
This evening, the Dhammachakra Pravartan Day conference will take place at 6 PM in the presence of the Bhikkhu Sangha. For the first time, no political figures will be given a platform at the event. Additionally, over 200 book stalls have been set up at Diksha Bhoomi for attendees. Essential facilities have been arranged for the millions arriving from October 11 to 14.
The morning began with a Buddhist worship ceremony led by Bhante Arya Nagarjuna Surai Sasai, along with other monks, where the Samata Sainik Dal also took vows. It is expected that a large number of followers will continue to arrive at Diksha Bhoomi today, coinciding with Vijayadashami and again on October 14.
