Nagpur: Amit alias Pappu Shahu, 35, a resident of Jabalpur, saw some videos on the mobile phone of slain Sana alias Hina Khan, which allegedly prompted him to kill her.
A police official privy to the investigation stated that Sana alias Heena Khan, the 34-year-old functionary of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Minority Cell from Awasthi Nagar in Nagpur, and Amit had shared a strong bond and tied nuptial knot in April this year. Their love story took a dark turn when Amit, who had been providing financial support to Sana, stumbled upon a video in her mobile phone in May of this year. The content of the video has not been disclosed, but its impact on Amit was profound.

According to the police official, Amit’s behaviour changed dramatically after viewing the video. He stopped paying attention to Sana and began ignoring her phone calls. The incident created a rift in their relationship, he said, quoting the statement of Pappu. Sana’s behaviour reportedly grew abusive, causing distress to Amit. Matters escalated on August 1 during a video call between Amit and Sana. Sana went to Jabalpur on August 2 and entered Pappu’s house.
According to police, Sana had slapped Pappu. She was killed by Pappu during the fight in the morning. Later, Pappu was about to commit suicide by jumping from a bridge However, he withheld the plan and threw the body in the river with the help of Ramesh Singh. The official said that a team of Mankapur police station was camping at Jabalpur and conducting a search operation for Sana’s body with the help of the State Disaster Relief Team.
Recovery of Sana’s body or body parts would be the important evidence in the case, he said. Amit and Rajesh Singh are under the custody of Nagpur police. DCP Zone II Rahul Madne is supervising the probe.
