Violence Erupts Over Deekshabhoomi Underground Parking Project in Nagpur

Nagpur: Tensions flared on Monday over the contentious issue of an underground parking project amidst ongoing development and beautification efforts at Deekshabhoomi, as members of the Deekshabhoomi Smarak Samiti resorted to violence by setting fire to the under-construction site.

Rajendra Gavai, Secretary of the Smarak Samiti, publicly accused the Samiti President, Bhadant Arya Nagarjuna Surei Sasai, during a press conference, highlighting internal rifts within the organization.

The disagreement between factions within the Deekshabhoomi Smarak Samiti reached a boiling point on Monday, resulting in a violent clash. Groups opposing the project stormed the construction site and set fire to erected pillars.

Nagpur Police swiftly responded to reports of violence, dispatching a squad to the scene to mediate between the warring factions.
