Nagpur: In view of the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra, all political parties have started preparations leading to claims and counterclaims among them.

In Nagpur, a tussle over constituencies has emerged within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Adding to the tension, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar, has dismissed the claim made by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) as baseless.

Wadettiwar clarified that no discussions have taken place within the MVA regarding seat-sharing so far. He also mentioned that there has been no conversation about former Minister Anil Deshmukh contesting the elections against Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis from Nagpur South-West Assembly constituency. Moreover, he denied any claim made by the NCP over the constituency.

No seat-sharing discussions in Maha Vikas Aghadi yet:

Wadettiwar said that a meeting of the MVA was scheduled for August 27. However, due to the sudden demise of our MP Vasant Chavan, the meeting has been postponed. Once the new date is decided, the discussions on seat-sharing will commence, he explained.

BJP bought power in seven States using money:

“The BJP’s business is power through money and money through power. The BJP has acquired power in seven states by using money. Their strategy is to break homes and parties. However, even their government at the Centre is surviving on crutches. I don’t believe this government will complete its five-year term”, Wadettiwar remarked.

He further said that giving ‘suparis’ and hurling cash are not part of Maharashtra’s culture. The BJP is playing the politics of votes through the Sakal Hindu Samaj’s rallies. They are creating divisions within religions and making speeches that could provoke unrest, Wadettiwar said, launching a scathing attack on the BJP.
