Nagpur: Railway minister Suresh Prabhu and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday reviewed various existing and new projects in the state, especially Vidarbha.
The two leaders discussed the Wardha-Nanded new railway line and asked the district collectors to complete land acquisition process in three months.
“Wardha-Nanded new line land acquisition will be done by state government on a priority basis and handed over to the railways for execution,” said sources.
“Currently, for the 234km new railway line, only land on which 34km railway line can be laid has been acquired,” said sources.
The two leaders also discussed conversion of Nagpur-Nagbhid broad gauge line. However, the line is yet to get a green signal from Niti Ayog, though budgetary allocation has been made.
Sources said Ahmednagar-Beed-Parli new line land acquisition will be expedited and work will be taken up from Parli end too.
Fadnavis also discussed Achalpur-Murtizapur-Yavatmal (erstwhile Shakuntala Express narrow gauge line) and Pulgaon-Arvi metre gauge line. This line will be converted into broad gauge on a 50:50 basis.
Besides, in fresh move a decision was taken to launch survey for Arvi-Warud new railway line.
Fadnavis also asked to put land acquisition for Wadsa-Gadchiroli line on fast track. Gadchiroli confirmed collector that it will be completed in the coming months.
