Nagpur: The heavy down pour in the city on Monday proved causing a severe inconvenience in several residential areas including the West High Court Road wherein the rain-water had clogged in the basements.
The space on basement got approved by builders for the purpose of parking seems to be simply on the construction-map. Practically it becomes a hell during rainy season as the water gets clogged up. As a result, the residents are required to park their vehicles on road-sides, quite insecure, and also causing inconvenience to passers-by.
The problem of parking on West High Court Road is for ever, but no attention is being paid by the traffic police or NMC town-planning department. The water getting clogged up during rainy season is a major source of various diseases, mosquitoes and insects, etc. This is the beginning of rainy season, and there is a long way to bear with the season as well as its unpredictable problems. To such a situation, the NMC health department has turned its blind eyes.
Not only this, the NMC Dharampeth zonal officials are not worried about broken gutters, and if informed they would never attend to the problem at once, and they would take their time lethargically to act.
Similarly, the area behind Lokmat Bhavan at Lokmat Chowk, where once upon a time there used be to a petrol pump, is also clogged by rain-water. This area comes under Dhantoli zone.
It is really surprising to note whether the NMC administration had ever made a pre-monsoon survey of the gutter-lines, sewer-lines and the areas as well as basements where rain-water would get clogged up. Even many storm-drains along all roads got clogged up with rain-water in the beginning of the season.
