Nagpur: The city-based Miniratna PSU Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) on Monday observed ‘National Unity Day’ to commemorate birth anniversary of country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel which falls on October 31. The Chairman cum Managing Director Rajiv Ranjan Mishra administered the oath of National Unity to WCL personnel after garlanding a portrait of Sardar Patel.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion include Anil Ramteke, Chairman Railway Recruitment Board, Bilaspur, WCL Director (Personnel) Dr Sanjay Kumar, Director (Technology) T N Jha, and Chief Vigilance Officer Ashok Labhane.

On the occasion, massages of President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Home Minister, Finance Minister and Chief Vigilance Commissioner were read out by K B Khanna, Sant Lal, Amarendra Kumar, Kaushik Chakravarti, Sanjiv Soni and A N Sarkar, all General Managers.
The event also marked commencement of Vigilance Awareness Week. Various programmes and contests have been organized for WCL workers and students during the week that will conclude on November 6.
