Nagpur: A shocking incident unfolded in Nagpur as two businessmen, Amrish Gole (41) and Nirala Kumar Singh (43), were brutally shot dead on July 25th by contract killers who were promised Rs50 lakh for the gruesome act. The victims had fallen prey to a scheme promising to double their Rs1.50 crore investment in a short period. Their lifeless bodies were partially burnt and then discarded into the Wardha river from the Kharki bridge.
After the families reported the businessmen missing, the police launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of five individuals involved in the murder plot. The motive behind the killings was to seize the demand draft worth Rs1.5 crore that the victims were carrying.
The mastermind behind the heinous act was identified as Omkar Talmale (25), who had initiated contact with Gole and Singh through Vishal Punj. Talmale, who claimed to be involved in the home decor and artifacts business and boasted political connections, lured the businessmen into giving him a demand draft. He promised to return the amount with an impressive profit of Rs2.80 to 3 crore in a short span. The meeting between Talmale and the victims was arranged at a farmhouse owned by Lucky Turkel.
On the day of the murders, Talmale met Gole and Singh at a cafe in Civil Lines and accompanied them in a car while his gang followed in separate vehicles. CCTV footage captured the convoy heading towards Kondhali, where the crime took place.
According to police findings, Verma and Talmale used three weapons to fire five rounds at the unsuspecting victims in the farmhouse. The killers attempted to burn the bodies but were unsuccessful. Subsequently, they wrapped the half-burnt bodies in tarpaulin, tied them with ropes, and discarded them into the Wardha river, believing it to be the deepest part.
Talmale attempted to mislead the police during the initial investigation, claiming he had only heard about a fight between two individuals in Kondhali while he was in Pune. However, the police eventually caught him upon his return to Nagpur.
Authorities are also examining Talmale’s involvement in other crimes, as he was known for deceiving job seekers by promising government postings and international opportunities. He even claimed to be a patent holder and a skilled shooter who had won numerous championships.
The police have recovered Gole’s decomposed body from the river and are set to resume the search for Singh’s body. Meanwhile, a team of forensic experts will conduct a post-mortem examination of Gole’s body.
As the investigation continues, more information about Talmale’s criminal activities and potential accomplices may come to light. The bereaved families and the community at large remain in shock and disbelief over the brutal murders of the two businessmen.
