Nagpur: In the wake of Omicron threat – the new Covid-19 variant — the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has called off its plan to stop the free dose of the first Covid vaccine, sources said.
It is pertinent to mention that, the civic body was serious about stopping the first free dose from December 1, as despite various attempts of administration to woo citizens for vaccination were ending in vain. No new date has been fixed yet to stop the free first dose, owing to the new threat of the Omicron variant, sources said.
The authorities have administered 18.88 lakh first doses and 11.14 lakh second doses till November 30. Total 30.36 lakh vaccinations have been done in the city. The NMC has a target of covering 19.73 lakh adult populations, which will need a total 39.46 lakh jabs to reach fully vaccinated city status.
