Nagpur: Sending a stern message against sexual predators prying on helpless minor girls, Sitabuldi Police have arrested a 19-year-old youth from Tajbagh area for allegedly molesting a 17-year-old girl returning home from tuition class within 12-hours of the incident.
The accused has been identified as Sufiyan Siraj Sheikh (19), a resident of Plot No. 6, Thakur Flat, Motha Tajbag.
According to police sources, the victim was returning home from her Sitabuldi-based tuition classes on Saturday night, when accused Sufiyan reportedly outraged her modesty in full public view. Shocked by the incident, the weeping victim rushed home and narrated her ordeal to her parents.
Taken aback by their daughter’s ordeal, they swiftly rushed to Sitabuldi Police Station with a complaint.
Taking immediate cognizance, Sitabuldi Police launched a probe into the matter and arrested accused Sufiyan within 12-hours of the incident.
An offence under Sections 354, 354(D), 341 of the IPC read with Section 12 of the POCSO Act has been registered against the accused. Further investigations are on.
