Nagpur: A 47-year-old woman travelling with her husband in AC-III tier compartment fell from the speeding Bengaluru-Danapur Superfast Express near Khapri Gumgaon under Hingna Police Station area in Nagpur in the early hours of Sunday under mysterious circumstances. Her severely mutilated remains were found on the tracks after her husband alerted authorities at Nagpur Railway Station.
Identified as Reenadevi Vishwanath Yadav, the deceased was a resident Plot No 135, Salem, Tamil Nadu. A native of Agrauli, Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, Reenadevi was travelling with her husband Vishwanath Manuji Yadav (53) to Buxar, Bihar, in the train. Around 6.45 am, Reevadevi was standing near the wash basin as she wanted to go to the toilet.

The train almost stopped on the bridge. The door of the coach was open. Suddenly, the train started and Reenadevi received a jerk. She lost balance and was thrown off the train. Some passengers in the coach who noticed the incident informed her husband immediately. Vishwanath Yadav alerted the train ticket examiner who ensured that the train was stopped immediately
The couple, who worked at Chennai, was returning to their native place for a holiday. The duo, who had embarked from Bengaluru, was scheduled to disembark at Buxar in Bihar, from where they intended to proceed to Ballia in Uttar Pradesh.
Reenadevi Yadav, a mother of four, had morning tea with her husband on the train and then went to use the lavatory. Her husband, Vishwanath, was shocked when a fellow passenger informed him that his wife had fallen from the moving train.
Vishwanath hastened to check, and was unable to locate his wife anywhere on the moving train. With the train approaching Nagpur station, co-passengers urged Vishwanath, who works in a security agency, to wait until they reached the station. In the meanwhile, he notified the ticket collector in the coach.
At Nagpur Railway Station, Vishwanath informed the Station Master, who alerted Government Railway Police (GRP). The GRP notified the Hingna police to take charge of the case, as the mutilated body was later found in their jurisdiction.
Hingna police station and GRP said that the woman most probably fell accidentally from a door left open by someone else. “The woman may have either been on her way to the bathroom or fell after using it. But it is likely she lost her balance inside the speeding train and fell through the open door, failing to grasp anything to save herself,” stated an experienced railway cop, adding that it appeared to be an accident rather than a suicide.
“The couple had tea together, and there were no reports of any arguments or altercations between them. The husband also did not give any information to suggest that she may have taken her life,” the cop added.
