Nagpur: In a distressing case of online deception, a woman fell prey to cyber criminals, losing a staggering sum of Rs 9.81 lakh. The incident prompted the registration of a case at Hudkeshwar Police Station.
The 33-year-old victim, a resident of Ghogli, Besa Road, was initially contacted by a person named Roza via mobile number 9168352002 in August. Roza offered her a lucrative part-time job opportunity, which the victim accepted. Subsequently, she was assigned various online tasks, which she diligently completed between August 17, 2023, and August 22, 2023. To bolster her confidence, she was informed that she had earned a significant profit from these tasks.
However, the situation took a dire turn when she was enticed into share trading with promises of high returns. Believing the assurances, she was persuaded to transfer Rs 9.81 lakh to different accounts. Tragically, once the transfers were made, the cyber fraudsters swiftly siphoned off the entire amount.
Upon lodging a complaint, the police conducted a thorough verification process and proceeded to register an FIR under Sections 420 and 66(d) of the Indian Penal Code. An investigation into the matter has been initiated to apprehend the perpetrators and seek justice for the victim.
