Woman killed, daughter injured as auto hits moped in Sitabuldi

Nagpur: A 53-year-old woman was killed and her daughter seriously injured when their two-wheeler was hit by a speeding auto-rickshaw when they were returning from Ganesh Tekdi Temple on Saturday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Kavita Sanjay Pise (53), while her daughter is Harsha (18), both residents of Plot No 24, Joshi Lay-out, Subhash Nagar.

According to police, the mother-daughter duo was en route to home after visiting Ganesh Tekdi Mandir on Saturday evening. Harsha was riding the two-wheeler. The accident occurred at 5.30 pm on Tekdi Road near Hill Top Lodge in Sitabuldi. A speeding auto-rickshaw suddenly took a turn and hit the two-wheeler. Kavita and Harsha fell on the road and sustained grievous injuries. They were admitted to hospital where Kavita succumbed to the injuries on Sunday at 10.30 am.

A case under Sections 279, 337, 338 and 304 (a) of Indian Penal Code was registered by Sitabuldi Police.

In another mishap, a woman was killed and her husband injured seriously when a speeding truck hit a motorcycle at KhargaonT Point area within the Wadi Police Station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Minoti Ganeshchandra Das (60). Her husband Ganeshchandra Surendranath Das (73) is injured and in shock. Both victims hailed from the Adivasi Lay-out of Wadadhamana.

According to police, the couple was en route to purchase groceries on their moped when the cargo vehicle collided with them on Saturday at 1.30 pm. The two were seriously injured in the accident. Both were rushed to a hospital. Minoti Das succumbed to her injuries, as declared by the attending doctors.

Wadi Police registered a case and took into custody the truck driver, identified as 26- year-old Anand Vishwanath Prajapati from Chhattisgarh.
