Nagpur: A 42-year-old married woman from Nagpur, missing since December 28, was likely murdered and the body disposed of in the river. The body is yet to be recovered, but her paramour and his accomplice were rounded up on Tuesday.
According to media reports, the woman from Barakholi near Indora in North Nagpur under Jaripatka police jurisdiction had an extra-marital relationship with her colleague, from whom she had borrowed Rs 1 lakh but was not returning. She had taken the amount for construction of her house. The woman was learnt to be demanding an additional loan of Rs 20,000 from him, which had left him angry.
According to police sources, the paramour was already under the scanner but was not spilling the beans though he was among the most frequent, and also the last, caller on her cell phone number. He had apparently lured the woman to his house at MHADA Colony in Kapil Nagar with the promise of handing over the cash but bludgeoned her to death with a stick. The paramour’s accomplice had pinned her down when he was assaulting her.
The two perpetrators allegedly packed her body in a sack and ferried it to a desolate place near Khaparkheda and disposed of it in the river.
A missing person complaint was lodged at Jaripatka Police Station. The Jaripatka police rounded up the woman’s paramour for questioning. He is learnt to have spilled the beans during questioning. The cops are now searching for the body.
