Woman riding pillion dies after her saree gets entangled in wheel near Nagpur

Nagpur: In a freak mishap, a woman riding pillion on a bike with her husband on the Amravati-Nagpur highway died due to severe head injuries as she fell off after her saree got entangled in the moving bike’s rear wheel chain, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, Priti Puchul Shinde (22), a resident of Ganga Nagar, Katol, was riding pillion on the motorcycle of her husband Pochul (28) on Monday morning, when the incident occurred.

The duo was passing through Gondkhairi village, when Priti’s saree got entangled in the rear wheel chain. As a result, she lost her balance and fell on the road from the moving two-wheeler. Seriously injured Priti was admitted to the hospital where she breathed her last on Tuesday.

A case of accidental death was registered by Kalmeshwar police.
