Work hard to make India ‘Vishwaguru’: Union Minister Mahesh Sharma
Nagpur: “All Indians and intellectuals must work hard to take India to the position of Vishwaguru (World Preacher),” said Union Minister for State for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Dr Mahesh Sharma, here in the city on Saturday, Oct 24.

He was dressing the first post-inaugural session of 3-Day International Conference on “International Resonance of Ancient Indian Culture”
held in the city under the joint auspices of R S Mundle Dharampeth Arts and Commerce College and International Centre for Cultural Studies.
Dr Sharma further said, “A country is recognized by its culture, and any Indian who goes abroad represents the rich and comprehensive Indian culture. In our culture, a ‘donor’ (one who gives away) is regarded with high esteem, and so, Almighty God, mother, father and Guru (teacher) are regarded ‘perennial donors.’ India is vast land surrounded by spanning seas, and embedded with rivers, deserts, dense forests and amazing geographical networking along with its value-added intrinsicity of ‘unity in diversity’ as its existential commitment to keep all united.”
According to him, those Indians who reside on foreign lands keep up their cultural values though they live in prosperity and affluence. In other words they uphold Indian culture even outside and never let it go.
The International Conference on “International Resonance of Ancient Indian Culture” was inaugurated by Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat.
In his inaugural address, Dr Bhagwat said, “The aim of life is ‘paropkar’ (doing good to others), and not being selfish or self-satiated. Our life-style should be based on seeing unity in diversity, considering itself a factor of Nature and observing one’s own development in the development of others. Only such a mentality can provide new direction to the world, and such experiments are being made across the globe.”
He also stressed the need to change one’s perception towards the world by casting aside selfish tendency and giving priority to the welfare of others. According to him, while human desires are infinite, worldly resources or means are limited, and so, one must control desires and find joy or fulfilment within.
Various research papers and literature produced by International Centre for Cultural Studies will presented on this occasion.There will be in all ten sessions held in the Conference and research papers will be presented on topics like culture, philosophy and ideologies, etc.
