Working as carpenters, thieves lay hands on gold jewellery worth Rs 5.46 lakh

Three carpenters who were hired to fix the furniture at a middle-aged woman’s house laid their hands on her gold jewellery worth Rs 5.46 lakh from her bedroom.

According to details, Annu Carl Mehta (48), a resident of Jaishree Plaza, Flat No. 404, Chitnis Nagar had hired Prakash Jiyalal Sharma (50), Ravindra Prahlad Borkar (38), and Pradeep Motilal Mahule (44) for fix the furniture at her house. On the pretext of working, they distracted the woman and looted gold ornaments kept in the bedroom almirah worth Rs 5.46 lakh.

Annu discovered the theft only after the accused had left the place. She rung Sadar police and informed them about the theft. Cops have registered an offence under Sections 380 and 34 of the IPC against all the three men and started their investigations.
