Xiaomi is all set to launch the Mi 6X smartphone in China on April 25, and rebranded version of the same is likely to come to India as Mi A2. But that’s not the only smartphone Xiaomi seems to be working on. Last week we came across a report stating that the Chinese smartphone maker is working on an entry-level smartphone called Redmi S2 with dual cameras, specially made for India.
Now, an unknown smartphone with entry-level specifications has been certified by China’s regulatory authority TENAA, and it is expected to be the Redmi S2. TENAA has also shared photos of the smartphone that show off full screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio, vertically placed dual cameras at the back as we have seen on the Mi 6X, along with a fingerprint sensor.

Along the top and bottom, you can also see the iPhone 7-like antenna bands. The power / sleep button can be seen on the right, whereas the SIM card slot can be seen on the left.
In terms of specifications, the smartphone comes with an HD+ (720p) display, which is expected to be a 5.99-incher with 18:9 aspect ratio. TENAA also reveals that the smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC with three storage variants – 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage.
In the photography department, the smartphone alleged Redmi S2 sports a 12-megapixel primary sensor, supplemented with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The secondary camera will likely act like a depth sensor to add DSLR like bokeh effects to your photos. Up front, a 5-megapixel sensor is expected with support for face unlock feature. The smartphone will be armed with a 3,000mAh battery to keep things ticking.
