Nagpur: An engineering student of Yashwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE) committed suicide in his rented room in MIDC area on Monday.
Anurag Gajanan Panpaliya (19), a second year BE student of Electronics Branch, ended his life by hanging from the ceiling fan in his rented room at Plot No 4, Matoshree Nagar, Wanadongri, around 3.30 pm. Anurag was a native of Dhamangaon, district Amravati.

Soon after receiving the information, staff from MIDC Police led by PSI Tiwari visited the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Preliminary investigation revealed that though Anurag had told his parents that he passed the previous engineering examination, he could not clear some subjects. Investigators found the marksheets from his room.
MIDC PSI Tiwari, who registered a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, said that Anurag took the extreme step when his room partner Prathamesh Sunil Laxane (20) had gone out. Further investigations are underway.
