Nagpur: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for Nagpur and nearby districts from April 15 to 17. The alert excludes April 18, but the RMC has issued another ‘Yellow Alert’ for April 19.
The warning has raised worries for farmers who are already grappling with drought-like conditions in the region. If the predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds occur, it could cause damage to crops and delay harvest.
According to the RMC’s five-day prediction, “Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely to occur at isolated places.” The RMC had previously issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for Nagpur district between August 15 and 17.
In addition to Nagpur, the RMC has also issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for the districts of Wardha, Chandrapur, Akola, Buldhana, and Washim.
