Nagpur: After a significant break, the monsoon has returned to Maharashtra, bringing the forecast of heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms in several districts. Citizens are advised to take precautions while stepping out in the rain. Mumbai has also experienced overcast skies since early morning, with light showers recorded in the city and suburbs.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is expected in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts in the Konkan region. Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Satara districts in Central Maharashtra have been issued warnings for intense rain. Other parts of the state may also experience rain with thunderstorms. Marathwada and Vidarbha regions are likely to see an increase in rain intensity.
Yesterday, several districts, including Pune, Nashik, and Yavatmal, were lashed by heavy rain, causing waterlogging in many areas. In Yavatmal, the water level in rivers rose, submerging bridges, and some vehicles were swept away. In Nashik, water entered a few homes.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Pune, Satara, and Sangli districts today. Rain alerts have also been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Nandurbar, Dhule, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune, and Solapur districts. In Marathwada, districts like Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Parbhani, and Dharashiv are expected to receive heavy rain with thunderstorms. Similarly, in Vidarbha, a yellow alert has been issued for Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Washim, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli districts.
