Young engineer killed, friend injured in road accident in Nagpur

Nagpur: A 22-year old engineer was killed in a road accident while his friend was seriously injured on Wardha Road under jurisdiction of Hingna Police Station, Nagpur.

According to police, Kunal Sukant Vishwas (22) and his friend, Ashish Shivprasad Patel (24), were critically injured in the accident that occurred on Saturday at 9.40 pm. The two engineers were en route to a Dhaba on their motorcycle (CG-11/AX8565). The accident took place near the Old Toll Naka of Dongargaon when an unidentified vehicle collided with their motorcycle from behind and fled the scene.

Both were dragged along with their vehicle which resulted in severe injuries to them. Locals quickly alerted the police, and the injured were rushed to Swami Vivekanand Hospital for treatment. Kunal Vishwas was pronounced dead at the scene. The two engineers, originally from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, worked together at a healthcare company in MIHAN and resided with their friend at Urban Glory Apartment in Khapri. They had been on night duty and were heading out for a meal when the accident occurred, police officials said.

Kunal’s body has been sent to AIIMS hospital for post-mortem. A case has been filed against the unidentified driver, and the police have launched an investigation.

Speeding truck kills 4-year old girl on Koradi Road

In a separate incident, four-year-old Sanjana Jhakanikar was fatally struck by a speeding truck on Koradi Road on Sunday afternoon. The young girl was crossing the street with her elder sister when the tragedy occurred.

The truck driver absconded immediately as a crowd gathered. Sanjana lived with her sister and maternal grandparents, as her parents worked in Latur. Police have registered a case and are searching for the truck driver.
