A 21-year old youth was forcibly abducted and assaulted murderously by four motorcycle-borne criminals in the night of Wednesday (October 8) in Gittikhadan area of the city. Cops have booked the four goons on the charges of abduction and attempt to murder. However, no arrests have been made so far.

According to police, the victim Sumit Rajendraprasad Dubey (21), resident of Surendragarh, behind Dr Chaurasia’s Clinic, Seminary Hills, Nagpur, was going to a petrol pump in Gittikhadan to fill petrol in his motorcycle along with his friend at about 8.15 pm on Wednesday. However, the accused Sultan and his three accomplices, accosted Sumit and his friend midway and forced Sumit to seat on their motorcycle. After abducting Sumit, the accused took him to a deserted ground in Hazaripahad near Friends Colony Square. The accused then mercilessly attacked Sumit with tyre belts inflicting injuries on his abdomen and hands. Not satisfied with the bloody injuries, the accused later smashed Sumit’s head with stones in a clear intention to kill him. Assuming Sumit dead, the accused immediately vanished from the scene. However, some passersby spotted Sumit lying in pool of blood and informed Gittikhadan police about the incident. Cops too rushed to the spot and admitted Sumit to Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Police surmise the murderous assault on Sumit could be an outcome of old rivalry.
