Nagpur: A 13-year old girl was raped by a 20-year-old youth on overhead water tank in MIDC police station area.
The accused, identified as Ankit alias Prajwal Hiralal Patil, a resident of MIDC, has been arrested by the police. According to police officials, a few days ago, Ankit had met the girl and they exchanged mobile numbers. He started calling her frequently and lured her into a fake relationship.
On Friday evening, Ankit asked the girl to meet him near a water tank in the MIDC area. The girl went to meet him, and he took her to the tank, where he raped her. The accused also threatened to kill the girl’s parents if she disclosed the incident to anyone. As the girl’s condition began deteriorating, and she was admitted to the hospital. The doctor confirmed that the girl was raped. She later disclosed the identity of the accused to her family, who promptly lodged a complaint with the MIDC police station.
A case under Sections 366 (a), 376(3), 376(2)(j), 506 of Indian Penal Code read with Sections 3, 4 and 8 of POCSO Act was registered by MIDC police and the accused Ankit Patil was arrested. Further probe is underway.
