Nagpur: A love affair culminated in a violent assault when a youth attempted to kill the uncle of his 17-year-old lover and his own brother during discussion at Bhande Plot area of Sakkardara Police Station on Friday in Nagpur.
The accused has been identified as Shubham alias Montu Ashok Shahu, a 29-year-old resident of Sakkardara. The 35-year-old complainant, who happens to be the uncle (mama) of the teenage girl and the accused’s brother Shubhanshu Ashok Shahu (31) received serious injuries in the attack.
According to police, upon learning about the romantic involvement between Shahu and his niece, the complainant confronted the situation. He advised the girl to distance herself from Shahu and asked Shahu to terminate the relationship. Tensions escalated and Shahu summoned the complainant for a meeting at 2 pm on Friday for a discussion in the Bhande Plot area. The complainant, whose hand was already fractured, arrived at the meeting spot accompanied by a friend.
The seemingly calm discussion took a violent turn and Shahu stabbed the complainant in the shoulder. The situation escalated further when Shahu’s brother, Shubhanshu Shahu, attempted to intervene. Shahu, in a fit of rage, also stabbed him in the stomach. Both victims were immediately rushed to a hospital, where their current condition is reported to be stable.
Sakkardara police registered a case under Sections 307, 326, and 294 of the Indian Penal Code along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The police arrested accused Shubham Shahu.
