Nagpur: A court in Nagpur awarded 7-year jail to a youth on the charges of raping a minor girl.
Additional Sessions Judge A M Rajkarne on Friday sentenced Swapnil Sheshrao Khadse (27) to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) after the charges of raping a minor girl were proved against him in the court.
A resident of Ram Nagar, Kharbi, Khadse had raped a 14- year-old girl around 5 pm on January 28, 2017. Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, Nandanvan Police had registered a case under Sections 376(2)(I), 323, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), read with Sections 3 and 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act, against Khadse.
On January 29, 2017, police arrested Khandse. PSI Sonali Wagare investigated the case and filed a charge-sheet against Khadse. As the charges were substantiated against Khadse, the court sentenced him to seven years RI imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5000 for the offence under Section 376(2)(I) of the IPC and Section 4 of PoCSO Act. Khadse would undergo additional three months RI if he failed to pay the fine.
