Youth hacked to death over old enmity in Nagpur

Nagpur: Sensation prevailed at Surabardi in Wadi area of Nagpur after a young man was hacked to death by his friend-turned-foe over personal enmity on Sunday night.

Identified as Amit Pradip Agarkar (25), the deceased was a resident of Shiv Nagari, Surabardi, Waddhamna. Cops took accused Rahul Punitram Janghel (23), also a resident of Surabardi, into custody.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Rahul, who was operating his father’s business of crane and lifting services after completing his Bachelor of Commerce in Computer Application (BCCA) from G S College of Commerce & Economics, had some personal rivalry with Amit. Often, Amit, who was working as a driver, allegedly used to trouble Rahul. They clashed with each other many times allegedly over establishing supremacy at Shiv Nagari, Surabardi, where they were residing. Rahul then decided to teach Amit a lesson.

Around 9 pm on Sunday, Amit was sitting with his friend Shubham alias Deepak Nandlal Shrivas (25) at Shiv Nagari Ground. Suddenly, Rahul came there and after some wordy duel, he smashed Amit’s head with a crowbar killing him instantaneously. When Deepak tried to raise an alarm, he also attacked him with the crowbar injuring him seriously. Rahul then snatched the mobile phone of Deepak and fled the spot.

The news of Amit’s murder spread like jungle fire in the locality. Staff from Wadi Police Station led by Senior Inspector Pradeep Rayanawar rushed to the spot. After conducting the spot panchnama, cops sent Amit’s body for autopsy. After an hour, another police team apprehended Rahul from the nearby area. After recording the statement of Shubham Shrivas, a resident of Plot No 13, Dobi Nagar, Waddhamna, police registered a case under Sections 302,395,323 of the Indian Penal Code against Rahul and started further investigation.
