Gondane, who was allegedly in an inebriated condition, picked up a quarrel with Gautam. The wordy duel took a bloody turn when Gondane whipped out a sharp-edged weapon and attacked Gautam on his thigh. As Gautam collapsed, Gondane fled the spot. A profusely bleeding Gautam was lying at the spot for more than half-an-hour. After sometime, some residents took him to Mayo Hospital where he died due to excessive bleeding.
Kalamna cops, after registering a murder case, mounted a massive search to apprehend the accused Mahesh Gondane. They succeeded in netting Mahesh on Wednesday. During interrogation, Mahesh told police that the deceased Gautam had passed vulgar remarks at his daughter that enraged him. Mahesh further told cops that he did not want to kill Gautam that is why he stabbed on his thigh just to teach him a lesson. He never expected that the stab wound would kill Gautam. Gautam died of excessive bleeding.
Cops have booked the accused Mahesh Gondane under Section 302 of the IPC and placed him under arrest.
