Nagpur: A 22-YEAR-old youth, Ashfaq Shaikh, lost his life while trying to escape from an assault by a group of youths on Saturday. The incident occurred in the Koradi area, in which a 35-year-old man lost his legs.
The incident was triggered by suspicions over messages being sent on a mobile phone of a woman. One Aslam Sheikh had called Ashfaq for a meeting at a beer bar on Saturday. As Ashfaq, Aslam and his accomplices started abusing each other, the beer bar manager asked them to leave the bar. The three left the bar and started quarrelling outside the bar. Ashfaq was subjected to a brutal assault, and in a bid to save his life, Ashfaq fled from the scene, running on nearby railway tracks.

The 35- year-old man chased him, but he was hit by an oncoming train causing severe injuries to his legs. He has not been identified. Ashfaq was run over by the speeding train. He died on the spot. The injured 35-year-old man was immediately rushed to a private hospital.
A case of accidental death was registered by Koradi police. When asked, DCP Zone V Shravan Dath said that he was investigating the case and will shed light on each aspect soon.
