The wedding day of the demure Rohini Hingle and the elegant Anant Chopra was a memorable and happening affair that started early in the morning with the Chuda Ceremony!

On the wedding day the rituals at the girl’s home began with the Chuda ceremony. The oldest maternal uncle and aunt play an important role in the performance of the ceremony. Chuda is basically a set of red and cream ivory bangles which is touched by all those present and in turn is gifted by the girl’s Mamma (Maternal Uncle). The girl does not see the Chuda until she is ready for the marriage. People touch the Chuda and give their heartiest wishes to the girl for her future married life. They also shower rose petals on the bride. After that, the girl’s uncle, aunt, friends and cousins tie Kaliras (silver, gold or gold plated traditional ornaments) to a bangle worn by the girl.

The barat had all the friends and relatives of the Bridegroom dancing away with joy and gaiety on their way to the venue. The joy that one of their kith or kin is getting married and is settling down in life. They wanted to show their love, affection and pour blessings on the newly wed couple.

Thereby the later half proved to be as jolly and fun-filled as the rest day, with beaties at the venue enchanting the glitterati with their presence, the most beautiful captivating one sure being the bride!
